CBC Kitchener - A nice addition to the community!

It has been almost four weeks since CBC Radio One has added a Kitchener station to replace its former simulcast of the Toronto signal at 89.1. This station is somewhat unique, using a hybrid model that incorporates traditional and on-line broadcasting, as well as extensive use of social media platforms such as Twitter.  The primary local broadcasts include a morning show between 6:00 and 8:30am, with long-time CBC personality Craig Norris in the driver's seat.

Events like this are few and far between - CBC noted that prior to this, its last radio station launched in Ontario was in 1978!

So far, this has been a nice addition.  There has been a lot of effort to bring in local guests (Andrew Coppolino, local food writer, is one example - click here for his March 23 segment on buying local), and Craig is making a point to shine the spotlight on local musicians during his show (including posting a list of all the music played each morning so that listeners can follow up on any that pique their interest).

Check out the show FAQ for all their contact info, including Facebook and twitter links.
